Hunting was an important part of life at courts and among the nobility in Poland and Europe, both as an element of entertainment and as one of the main sources of food. At the same time, the hunting weapons used by the richer part of society were characterised by technical innovations and elaborate decorations created using all known techniques: gilding, inlaying with gold, silver, bone and mother-of-pearl, openwork cutting, etching, engraving and many, many others.
